Focus on result can hinder audition creativity
We can’t stress this enough: aiming for the result in a casting – that is, trying to meet the presumed expectations of the casting director – will limit your creativity and artistic choices.
Consciously or unconsciously, you’ll find yourself trying to fit the image you have of the character, their function, and the given situation, and you’ll be much more concerned with your “performance” than what’s happening in the moment. And that’s a shame.
Remember, the goal of a casting isn’t just to get a role, but also to showcase your talent and creativity.
By staying true to yourself, your sensitivity, your uniqueness, and trusting your artistic instinct, you’ll likely be more creative and authentic.
And that’s what can increase your chances of getting the role, making an impression on the casting director, and/or being called back for another role.
And to be ready to give your best in casting, we’ll always be here.
